Who Has Authority In My Life (2)
Tuesday May 3, 2016

May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind. (Psalm 115:15-16 NIV)
God gave the earth, and the authority over everything in it, to humans. Sin however, brought death to the earth and the separation of humans from their eternal relationship with God.
That is why Jesus came to earth. He came to restore the relationship that God had planned for humans and to give them back eternal life. In order to do that, Jesus who had equal status with God, set aside His attributes of deity and became human through the body of His virgin mother. He did this so that He could legally pay, with His human life, the penalty for all sin. Jesus never committed any sin himself and therefore was able to be the perfect sacrifice. How willing would we be to do that?

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:5-8 NIV)

Whatever we have done in the past, which may have contributed to an addictive lifestyle, is paid for by the precious blood of Jesus. He accomplished everything necessary on the cross so, when we put our trust in Him, we can be reconciled with God. Each of us has a choice of whom we will give authority over our lives. If we give authority to Satan, who’s only agenda is to get us to doubt God’s goodness, he’ll simply try to deceive us into doing what seems right in our own eyes. If we surrender authority of our lives to the Lord Jesus, however, He will empower us to choose the ways of God which will give us a good, pleasing and purposeful life.
The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice. (Proverbs 12:15 NIV)
