Who Has Authority In My Life (5)

God’s guidance for living life to the full is clearly laid out in rules and principles found in the Bible. While the Bible was written down by human beings, it is generally acknowledged that the writers were authorized and inspired by the Holy Spirit.  God speaks truth through the Bible and we must allow our lives to be shaped by those words in order to be ready to do the good works God has prepared in advance for us to do.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV)

At times we may decide to ignore the scriptures that pertain to a particular habit or lifestyle we are being tempted to continue with.  However, we must not disregard God’s authority in our situation just because we disagree with the rule.  If we insist on ignoring God’s direction, we run the risk of relapse.  We need to uncompromisingly permit God’s truth to have authority in all we do and say.  After we’ve made a decision to wholeheartedly turn our will and our life over to God, we will at some point in our recovery look back with wonder and offer Him great praise for all He has done for us.

I will proclaim the name of the Lord; how glorious is our God!  He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect.  Everything he does is just and fair.  He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is!  (Deuteronomy 32:3-4 NLT)

As we respond to the authority of God in our lives there will be no limit to the peace of body, mind and spirit that we will experience.
