Healing Co-dependency (5)
Friday July 29, 2016

As we noted yesterday, when we acknowledge that we have value in the sight of God and base our worth and identity on this, rather than on the opinions of others, we will begin to experience peace, freedom, and security.

From God’s perspective the following things are true about us:

From God’s perspective the following things are true about us:
1. We are loved and chosen. We do not have to earn love. We have nothing to prove or accomplish in order to be chosen, wanted, and accepted. Jesus already loves and values us. He proved it by dying for us. I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself. Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. (Jeremiah 31:3, Romans 8:3 NLT)

2. We are forgiven persons. No sin is too evil for God to forgive. The blood of Jesus cleanses all sin. God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:2 NLT)
3. We are persons of power and wisdom. God lives in us and blesses us with power to make wise choices. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT)

4. We are limited human beings, we belong to the God who has limitless power for us and those we love. Friends, why are you doing this? We are merely human beings--just like you! We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. (Acts 14:15 NLT)
God is committed to walking with us while we learn how to live well in relationship with Him and with others. Our self-worth is not tied to any particular success or failure. It is based on the unfailing love that God has for each one of us. We will become contented in life as we learn to relax in the acceptance of God’s dependable love for each of us.
