Serenity Saturday The Gift Of Peace
Saturday July 9, 2016

On our own, our circumstances are overwhelming. Our desires are bent towards self-centeredness and we act in ways that harm people around us. Our fears and wounds put us in a super-sensitive mode and cause us to react in damaging ways that actually bypass logical thinking processes. God offers us peace to overcome these challenges.

The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace. I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways. Lord, you will grant us peace; all we have accomplished is really from you. (Psalm 29:11, 85:8, Isaiah 26:12 NLT)

When we are under stress our bodies get weak and sick. Numerous studies in medical journals confirm this. God invites us to health in our bodies by offering us peace of mind and heart. How do we find this peace? God is in the gift-giving business. Peace of mind and heart for each day is a gift we can receive from Him.
When we invite Jesus into our hearts He gives us new life, including forgiveness for our sins and healing. His presence in our hearts connects us to a moment-by-moment flow of God’s great peace. That peace will settle our hearts and minds so that we are able to act with wisdom and compassion in the midst of challenging situations.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT)
God’s peace is available to us today when we bring ourselves, and our concerns to Him. Why live stressed? Let’s choose to experience real peace today as we live securely in Jesus Christ.
