Sharing Heart To Heart (1)

From the beginning God has known us. It is God’s desire that we walk safe and secure in the conscious awareness of His great love and care for us.  In the past, we didn’t know or even care about God.   The outcome of our self-willed, self-directed way of life was a painful lifestyle of destructive addiction.  Through it all, God’s constant invitation has been for us to enter into a deeply satisfying relationship with Him.  That’s still His heart for us today as we journey forward in recovery.
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me! (Psalm 139:17-18 NLT)

If we grew up in a dysfunctional family, our view of ourselves probably became skewed as we listened to the damaging comments of people around us.   We allowed their words to become embedded in our souls and warp our ability to see ourselves as God sees us.  The good news is that God lovingly cares for each one us and brings healing to our souls.  He gazes on us with great delight and even rejoices over us with singing.   He has good, pleasing and perfect plans for our lives.  If we seek Him with all our hearts, He will surely direct the way we should take.

O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.  When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.  You gave them charge of everything you made.  (Psalm 8:1-6 NLT)

To what degree are we seeking to live in conscious contact with God?  Are we motivated by a desire to bring joy and delight to God’s heart and do whatever pleases Him?  Today we are offered a fresh opportunity to nurture our on-going relationship with this awesome God.
