Sharing Heart To Heart (4)

The daily practice of speaking with God in prayer and meditating on His word is the blueprint that will help build our lives with God in recovery. In our daily devotions we should not be motivated by learning facts about God but simply by our desire to get to know Him intimately. As we draw close to God we are entering into a relationship with a loving friend who knew us before we were born, knows all about our lives, and cares deeply for us. As we linger in His tender loving presence our whole being - body, mind and spirit - will be renewed. Confusion will clear. Peace will come.

Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies; who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Psalm 103:1-5 NKJV)

There is a deep longing in us for intimate personal sharing and understanding, trusting and being trusted. This is a God-created desire. The primary place to fill that desire is in our relationship with God. God wants to share the secrets of His heart with us. God wants to confide in us. It is truly amazing and very touching that God wants to speak to us in confidence. The creator of the universe, the truly "top dog" of all, not only knows us, but desires to speak with us heart to heart about the things of heaven and earth that really matter.
The LORD confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them. (Psalm 25:14 NIV)
Sometimes, in relationship with people, we feel close to them and at other times disconnected and lonely. Today when we are feeling lonely and disconnected, why not invite God to come and be with us and fill us with everything we need.
