Understanding The Care Of God (5)

To give our will and our lives over to the care of God requires that we develop a whole new way of thinking and believing.  We were never meant to operate in life independent of God’s care.  The longer we tried the more problems we had. All through human history God has given warning that hardship and death are the natural consequences of sinful self-willed living.  If we are to navigate recovery successfully, we will need to make necessary changes in our lives.  These changes begin with surrendering our will and our lives into God’s care and establishing a loving relationship with Him.

Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God.  Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind He will accept. ….  Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is.  (Romans 12:1-2 NLT)

Why would we bother to take a risk on giving God control of our lives?  Why take on this challenging transaction?  Why give God entry into our lives?  Only by surrendering to God, and inviting Him to live in us and direct our thinking and behaving according to His ways, will we ever find what we’ve been seeking all along.  God’s will for our lives is truly what actually satisfies.
The God who created us knows what is good for us and, because of His great love for us, warns us away from those things that would harm us.  His thinking is not twisted by wounds and resentments and shame and fear like ours is.  His perspective is solely one of love and blessing.  His one desire is for us to know a purposeful and satisfying way of life, and to live it well.

O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.  (Micah 6:8 NLT)
