Cry Out For Wisdom (1)

Tuesday October 4, 2016

Day after day, in recovery meetings and elsewhere, we pray these words: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”  What are we asking for?  What can we hope to receive?  How does God respond to such a request?

First of all, God says, "I have all you need and more."

Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It’s way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out. Is there anyone around who can explain God? Anyone smart enough to tell him what to do? Anyone who has done him such a huge favor that God has to ask his advice? Everything comes from him; Everything happens through him; Everything ends up in him. Always glory! Always praise!  Yes. Yes. Yes.    (Romans 11:33-36 MSG)

Secondly, God promises to give us this amazing wisdom, if we will just ask.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.  (James 1:5 NLT)

As we come into God's presence, and commit ourselves to know God's will and follow His instructions in every area of our life, we will surely find the wisdom we seek.

Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.  (Proverbs 2:3-5 NLT)

Heavenly Father, I praise you for being the God of all wisdom.  As I move through my day, I thank you in advance for the wisdom You will plant in my mind moment by moment in every situation.
