Remembering God's Goodness
Thursday October 13, 2016

There are many battles in our lives that are much bigger than we are. Often our first response is to worry, work, lie, cheat or scam our way through the challenging circumstances. God offers us a much better way. He invites us to rely on His goodness, consult Him when problems show up, listen for His voice, and then follow the instructions He will surely give us.
God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. (Hebrews 13:5, Romans 8:28 NLT)

We must learn to seek God first, even if we have to force our minds and hearts to do so. The only way to overcome worry and fear, along with our troubles, is to see our great God as He is -- much bigger than our most troublesome problems.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV)

Sometimes the problems are not in our circumstances but in our heads. Obsessive thoughts and temptations to use old methods of dealing with pain and frustration seem to captivate our thinking and overwhelm us. God promises to never give us more than we can handle WITH HIS HELP.
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. (1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT)
God knows the answer to our problems and will make a solution available to us, if we choose to seek Him. It’s time to leave our own faulty ways that will surely fail and instead turn our will and our life over to God and trust His good plan.
