Sunday Psalm In Your Love Remember Me

Sunday November 13, 2016

We’ve been reflecting on remembering this week.   Today’s Psalm helps us to be encouraged and to remember that even though our sins are great, if we have repented and turned away from them, we can be confident that God remembers them no more.  This God who is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, makes a choice to never bring our sins to mind again.

To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.  Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.  Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD. (Psalm 25:1-2, 6-7 NIV) God promises:  And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.  (Hebrews 8:12 NLT)

God is aware of everything that is in us  - both our faults and our gifts.  God knows that without His help we are unable to go forward on any kind of sustained level unless we apply His truth. We can run around and do some things we think are good - and they might well be.  However, only under God’s direction do we really get to rest in the fact that we are doing what is right and good.  We can make some mistakes which may derail what God is trying to accomplish in our lives.  However, even in the wreckage of our blunders, when we come to Him, God is able to work all things together for our good.

Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. (Psalm 25:3-4 NLT)

Heavenly Father, We are grateful that You always see the bigger picture.  Today we choose to surrender our will and our lives into Your care.  We ask you to help us be teachable and to walk humbly with you.  As the writer of today’s Psalm requested, we also ask, "According to your love remember me, for you are good, O LORD."
