Where Does Our Help Come From

Friday November 4, 2016

In some situations, our future well-being may seem to depend on resolving a problem that is totally outside of our control.  We may be unable to see a solution to the situation because of our current limitations.  We may start to fear the impact the problem will have on our future, or on the future of our loved ones.  When circumstances like these arise, where do we turn for help?  This is a time to turn to God and seek His wisdom. When we ask for help, God will guide us and work all things together for our good and His glory.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.  (2 Chronicles 32:7-8 NIV)

Sometimes God’s Holy Spirit reveals things directly to our minds.  We don’t know what to do and we stop to pray and ask God for help and guidance.  Suddenly an idea for a plan of action pops into our head, or the name of a knowledgeable individual who can assist us in dealing with our situation comes to mind.  That’s God speaking to us and providing practical help.  The wisdom of God is infinite and all His ways are perfect.  Our part is then to fix our minds firmly on what God is saying, rather than on the problem.

Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor?  Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way?  Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?  (Isaiah 40:13-14 NIV)

As persons who have committed our will and our lives to the care of God, we can be assured that God is ever-present with us and will help us in our time of trouble.

Thank You Lord that when troubles arise, I can cast all my cares on You for You care for me.
