Christmas It Really Happened

Christmas - it really happened! God came to our planet. He came into the world and broke through into the dimension of our existence. It is truly amazing that the God who made the heavens and the earth, the sun, the moon, and the stars, came to earth to live as a human being.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (Psalm 8:3-4, Isaiah 7:14 NIV)
We may never comprehend how or even why God chose to do this but, the fact remains He came to earth by way of a Bethlehem manger. Jesus demonstrated who He was with miracles that healed people, fed them, drove demons out of them, and even raised them from the dead. Jesus drew individuals to Himself with His tender compassion and supernatural power. Yet I was the one who taught Israel to walk. I took my people up in my arms, but they did not acknowledge that I took care of them. I drew them to me with affection and love. I picked them up and held them to my cheek; I bent down to them and fed them. (Hosea 11:3-4)
We are assured of God's love and acceptance because of the obedience of Jesus. We are loved not simply as one of the masses but as individuals with unique personalities. It is this individual attention and affirmation by the God who created us that gives meaning and purpose to our lives. We are significant people because of our connection to God through Jesus Christ. That is why we celebrate the birth of Jesus during the Christmas season. He is Immanuel, God with us.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your unfailing love for us and for sending Jesus into the world to redeem broken sinful persons like us. We receive Jesus into our hearts and lives. Help us to be conscious of Your word which confirms our identity in you and our significance as children of the Living God.
