Today we continue to look at conditions which will help us walk in the life-giving ways of peace and blessing that God desires for us. Even though life brings troubles and problems and every person will face some, we can avoid a lot of them if we get to know and follow God’s principles.
Early in recovery, many of us feel more comfortable with people who think and sound like us than with healthy individuals. Unfortunately, we have all been shaped by the brokenness that bound us to destructive and addictive lifestyles. Real change and actual release from trouble comes when we seek advice from God and wise people and follow what they say. This requires doing things in ways that are new and unfamiliar to us.
Following are more principles from God’s word that warn us away from danger and invite us to go steadily forward in the blessings and peace of God.

2. Stop being stubborn. Blessed are those who fear to do wrong, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble. (Proverbs 28:14 NLT)
3. Give up the lie that money will fix our problems. The trustworthy person will get a rich reward, but a person who wants quick riches will get into trouble. (Proverbs 28:20 NLT)
4. Believe God’s promise to care for us. The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them. (Psalm 106:24 NLT)

Let’s leave behind our old ways of relying on ourselves, trusting in the empty promises of quick riches, and listening to those who lie and cheat and look for shortcuts out of problems only to find themselves with added troubles. As we turn our will and our lives over to God’s care, let’s trust Him to teach us His ways and then let’s walk in the paths He shows us.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, We humbly admit that our self-centered wisdom is foolishness in Your sight. Help us to believe the truth of Your word and follow it even though Your way is new and unfamiliar to us. Amen
