Taking A Leap Of Faith Going God's Way

Many of us, when we were active in addiction, took risks which were unhealthy and some of us continue to live with the consequences of our actions.  To live well in recovery, we need to step away from those unhealthy and often thoughtless acts.   It takes a decisive leap of faith to listen attentively to God and others and, on a daily basis, put new ideas into practice.  To avoid taking this bold step forward may give us some familiar short-term comfort, but it also means we may miss an opportunity for learning and growing.  The slogan, “If nothing changes nothing changes” is a challenge to us to take some bold first steps into unknown territory.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  (Hebrews 12:1 NLT)

When life changing decisions need to be made we may be asked to take a leap of faith.  It’s new to us to believe that there is a loving God who is close to us and wants to live in relationship with us.  It takes a huge leap of faith to turn our will and our life over to His care but when we do, God promises us many blessings.

Seek the Lord while you can find him.  Call on him now while he is near.  Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong.  Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.  Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.  (Isaiah 55:6-7 NLT)

We take a bold leap forward when we choose to say “No” to our familiar short-cut solutions and instead follow God’s plan for our lives.  God wants us to build our lives on a solid foundation based on His Word as recorded in the Bible.  Are we willing to go God’s way today?

Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  (John 8:31-32 NIV)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Today, I choose to take a leap of faith to wholeheartedly follow Your ways.  Amen
