Sunday Psalm Let's Have A Party

Sunday July 16, 2017

How many of us have fallen in life to places where we never dreamed we could have been?  In a moment of clarity, we saw what we had become and were shocked by the daily existence we called life.  Our family and friends counselled us to get help to change our ways but in our self-centered pride we sunk deeper and deeper into the mire of evil.  In the chaos of our condition we called out to the Lord and He helped us.

I was pushed back and about to fall, but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things! The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!” I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. (Psalm 118:13-18 NIV)

Now that we have come into recovery, we can look back and see how the Lord lifted us up.  He held our hand in His and guided and directed us to the place where we could be restored to new life.  As truth replaces our distorted belief system, our faith in God is growing and we are becoming stronger in body, mind, and spirit.  The things that caused us pain in the deepest recesses of our soul are being healed and restored.  We are becoming willing to forgive those who have caused us pain simply by realizing how much we have been forgiven by God for the pain we ourselves have caused others. The Lord has not allowed us to die but to live in the power of His Spirit and proclaim to others the great things He has done for us.

Jesus said there is a party in heaven every time one lost soul turns their will and their life over to God.  We may also find that our family and friends rejoice and party right here on earth.

Prayer:  Loving God, Thank You for helping me come to new life in You.  I am forever grateful that You care.  AMEN
