Do feelings of inferiority keep us from serving God and living life to the full? Do we fail to attempt things for God because we think we are not talented enough? Are we depending on our own strength to get through life or are we looking to God to be our strength?
Most of the time we estimate what we and others can or cannot do by what we have observed. However, God does not see us as we tend to see ourselves or others. At some point God may be encouraging us to do something that we are fearful of doing. We put obstacles in our way because of what is going on inside us.

A story in the Bible tells us about a fearful man named Gideon who was working in a hidden place because he was afraid of the enemies of Israel. God chose Gideon to save Israel and called him a “Mighty Warrior,” not a name Gideon or you or I would have given him.
Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:11b-14 NIV)

Gideon was doubtful, but eventually submitted to God and was given the knowledge and strength to defeat Israel’s enemies. With God, all things are possible. As we journey with God in recovery, listening to Him and submitting to His ways, we will find that we will accomplish more than we could ever have thought or dreamed of.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Remove all fear from me so that I may surrender to Your will for my life. AMEN
