Babe Ruth is perhaps the most famous baseball player of all time. He hit many home runs. His lifetime batting average was .342. That seems a remarkable number when you compare it to other players. The truth is, even though Babe Ruth was the greatest, 2 out of 3 times he tried to hit the ball, he struck out. He had failure more times than he had success and yet he was the most successful player of his time. Babe Ruth didn't let his strike-outs keep him from going up to the plate and batting again.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. (Hebrews 12:1 NIV)

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33 NIV)

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (Psalm 46:1, Matthew 5:16 NLT)
Prayer: Loving God, At times I feel unable to cope with life in recovery. Please help me to persevere and trust You to help me stand firm in my recovery. I am forever grateful that You care. AMEN
