Canadian songwriter and worship leader Brian Doerksen recorded the song “Welcome To The Place of Level Ground“ with individuals who had spent time in correctional facilities or who were coming back from addictive and destructive lifestyles.

None of us are worthy on our own. None of us could keep the perfect Law. None of us have lived a sinless life. But thanks be to God, He sent us all a Saviour. Jesus Christ, The only God of grace, Favour and forgiveness flowing down. Jesus Christ, Once for all You gave, Saving us forever through Your blood. You are the only God of grace. (“Welcome To The Place of Level Ground” on the album “Level Ground”) The folks who recorded this song, like us, are strugglers who are dearly loved by our gracious God. Until we admit we are powerless and our lives are unmanageable, God will not act on our behalf. The moment we realize our need for God and call out to Him, He receives us and pours forgiveness and healing into our hearts.
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Jesus said: It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. (Lamentations 3:2, 23, Luke 5:31-32, 19:10 NIV) In His love and mercy God sent His son Jesus to die for our sins because He knew we were powerless to do anything for ourselves. All God asks of us is to admit that we’re lost without Him and ask to receive His love and the new life He promises.
Prayer: I admit it God. My life is a mess. I’m one of those who needs a doctor for what’s wrong with me physically, and needs a Saviour for my heart that is sinful and broken. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. Give me forgiveness, healing, and new life today. AMEN
