What sorrow for those who drag their sins behind them with ropes made of lies, who drag wickedness behind them like a cart! What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. What sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyes and think themselves so clever. What sorrow for those who are heroes at drinking wine and boast about all the alcohol they can hold. (Isaiah 5:18, 21-22 NLT)

It’s a challenge for us to live with integrity in all areas of our lives. Lying in certain circumstances seems to be a necessity and is acceptable in some cultures. Many believe it's the way the system works whether it be in the political arena or simply dealing with a welfare officer.
God knows, any part of our life that is based on lies will become a problem in our future. In our addiction we witnessed the chaos and pain that lying brought on us, and on our loved ones. Just as “one drink is too many and a thousand is not enough” so it is with lies. A lie may achieve something in the moment that we want to see happen, but the impact may cause lasting pain and sorrow in our lives.

Life with God in recovery is about following the example of Jesus who is full of unfailing love, mercy, grace, and truth. It’s only in living in His way of truth that we receive the abundant blessings that our hearts desire.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. (John 14:6, 1:14a,16, NLT)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Please forgive and free me from the sin of lying. Help me to live a life of integrity so that I may receive from You, one gracious blessing after another. Amen
