Twelve Steps Of A.a. Step 10 My Life Reflected In God's Mirror

Suppose we looked in a mirror and found we had something smeared around our mouth. We would be foolish if we didn't immediately wash our face and clean up the problem. In the same way, we need to routinely look at ourselves with a spiritual mirror. When we are aware of a problem that could lead to relapse in our recovery, we need to take corrective action as soon as we become aware of it. If we don’t, the problem will not go away just because we refuse to deal with it.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. (James 1:22-24 NLT)

Whether we are doing an official Step 10 inventory or just reflecting on our life with God in recovery, it’s good to include one or two of the following questions:
Was love my motivation? You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. (Luke 10:27 NLT)
What was I thinking? And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (Philippians 4:8-9 NLT)
When I reflect on God’s standards, did I live today according to His principles?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Help me to be mindful of Your unfailing love for me as I once again turn my will and life over to Your care. Strengthen my resolve to follow Your principles and walk in Your ways. Amen
