Sunday Psalm Surprising Wisdom

It’s amazing that after all the chaos and heartbreak of our self-absorbed life in addiction that we could be so changed that we now passionately love God and His laws.  Our new way of life is certainly a testimony to God's amazing work of grace in our hearts. 

Oh, how I love your instructions!  I think about them all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide. Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws. I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments. I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to your word. I haven’t turned away from your regulations, for you have taught me well. How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey. Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life.  (Psalm 119:97-104 NLT)

 Love from God has dramatically changed us and now our love for God is daily transforming our way of living.

We're not serving God out of fear but responding to His great kindness and forgiveness.  The light of God's truth is exposing the lies and deception of the evil one.  Now, at times, we are even surprised by the wisdom that comes to our minds and out of our own mouths as God works in and through us. 

As we look back on the way we used to live, and see others still living in the deceit of addiction, we wonder how we could also have been so blind.  Now that we have learned to hate false ways and clearly identify with the goodness of God, others are amazed at what we know and how we now live and behave towards others. 

Life gets sweeter as we consistently walk and talk with God.  He has taught us well.  

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, I love Your laws.  They make me wiser than I ever thought I could be.  Obeying them has given me a life that is sweeter than I could ever have imagined.  How can I ever thank you enough?  Amen
