When we turn our will and our life over to the care of God we are surrendering ourselves to the work of God in our lives. In the “12 x 12” book it says, “It is only by ACTION that we can cut away the self-will which has always blocked the entry of God into our lives.” Why would we take on this challenging action and give God entry into our lives? The truth is, we only experience life to the full when we shape our lives by God’s principles.
What a stack of blessing you have piled up for those who worship you, ready and waiting for all who run to you to escape an unkind world. (Psalm 31:19 MSG))
Only by inviting God to live in us and to direct our thinking and behaving will we ever find what we’ve been looking for in life.
God created us, and He is the only one who knows the way to a life that is truly fulfilling. To achieve life to the full we need to surrender our will and our life into God’s care. This will mean NOT always having our own way. Our happiness is NOT the result of getting what we want when we want it. In fact, true happiness will only be achieved when we repeatedly say, “NO” to ourselves and “YES” to God.
Using our drug of choice or engaging in destructive habits is a reaction to whatever is going on inside us. To be willing to face those deep-rooted issues and want to live God’s way is something God must do in us. In each situation, as we surrender our will, God will change us from the inside out. Something will come alive within us, something that has never been alive before, and it will be truly satisfying.
Prayer: God, Today, I surrender my will and my life into Your care and ask You to show me the way forward to a meaningful, satisfying life. Amen
