Sunday Psalm Who Cares For Me
Sunday August 19, 2018

When we came to acknowledge that, on our own we were powerless over our addictive lifestyle, we sought help from those people who were known in the community to assist individuals like us in finding freedom from addiction. Upon entering a recovery program we may have looked around at the program staff and wondered why on earth they would choose to help us. In the chaos of our addictive lifestyle there was no one who seemed to care. Most of those we encountered were like ourselves, seeking only what they wanted from life and caring little about the impact they had on others.

The writer of the above Psalm felt that no one was giving him a passing thought and then he prayed to the Lord. Often that is how life seems to us when we realize how far we have fallen. What brought us to where we are is too strong for us to handle alone and there is no one to help us. We need to be rescued from the powers that keep us in bondage. We will find the help and strength we need to live free from our addictions and dependencies when we turn our will and our lives over to the care of God and say to Him “You are all I really want in life. Hear my cry, for I am very low."
As we seek God’s help and surround ourselves with Godly people, we will know the goodness of God to bring us out of the prison of our destructive lifestyle. We will then give thanks to God that He is truly the one who loves and cares for us.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank you for rescuing me from the dark power of Satan and bringing me into relationship with You and others who graciously help me. I am forever grateful that You love and care for me. Amen
