Going Forward
Friday December 28, 2018

As we consider our future, we need to take time to reflect on where we have been and where we want to go from here. Like any journey we plan to take, we need to know our starting place, our destination, and the way to get there.

When God’s people were slaves in Egypt they cried out to God and through amazing intervention, God answered their prayers and enabled them to be released from slavery. On their journey to freedom they encountered some problems and began to reflect on what they remembered as ‘good’ back in Egypt. They forgot the hard taskmasters and the fact they were suffering horribly as slaves. They began to complain about things they missed and determined that they would be better off back in Egypt. How quickly they forgot the miraculous things that God did to free them.

This is what the Lord says your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. (Isaiah 48:17 NIV)

In view of our forgetfulness, now may be a good time to give thanks for our recovery program and invite God to accompany us as we journey forward.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Thank You for giving me life. Help me to remember where I came from, where I am now, and where You are leading me. Give me the will and desire to stay the course with You. Amen
