Sunday Psalm Let's Have A Party

Sunday March 3, 2019

How many of us have fallen to places in life where we never thought we would have allowed ourselves to be?  In a moment of clarity, we saw what we had become and were shocked.  Our family and friends counselled us to get help to change our ways but in our self-centered pride we just sunk deeper and deeper into the darkness of addiction.  Finally in the chaos of our desperate condition we called out to the Lord and He helped us.

I was pushed back and about to fall, but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things! The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!” I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. (Psalm 118:13-18 NIV)

Now that we have come into recovery, we can look back and see how the Lord has lifted us up.  He held our hand in His and guided us to the place where we could be restored to new life.  As truth replaces our distorted belief system, our faith in God is growing and we are becoming stronger in body, mind, and spirit.  We are being healed and restored.  We are in the process of becoming willing to forgive those who have caused us pain, simply by realizing how much God has forgiven us for the pain we have caused others. The Lord has not allowed us to die but to live in the power of His Spirit and proclaim to others the great things He has done for us.

Jesus said there is a party in heaven every time one lost soul turns their will and their life over to God.  What a party they had for us!!  We may also find that because we have been healed and restored to new life our family and friends right here on earth are also partying.

Prayer:  Loving God, Thank You for helping me come to new life in You.  I am forever grateful that You care.  Amen
