Wisdom Mining For Treasures

Saturday August 15, 2020

Many of us when we start walking with God are unfamiliar with the full counsel of God’s word as recorded in the Bible and very few ever reach that place of complete knowledge.  The problem we have is, we believe we only need to learn a little to know a lot.  God, however, asks each person to receive Him as a little child and allow His Holy Spirit to help us grow in our understanding of His grace and goodness.

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. (Proverbs 2:1-3 NLT)

To grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God we need to lay aside all the pride and prejudice that we have allowed to guide our thinking in the past. We have been truly blessed with a spiritual awakening and now need to spend time with God reading His word and expanding our knowledge of the valuable treasures God is making available to us as resources for our new life with Him in recovery.

Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:5-6 NLT)

There is much hidden treasure in what we learn from the Scriptures.  Like we would search for silver or gold in a place where we know it could be found, we need to search the Bible to find out what pearls of truth God has placed there.  As we reflect on what we read, we may find a pearl of truth that will help us get rid of everything that hinders us in our way forward.  This pearl of truth could also be a treasure to share with others as we speak of our experience, strength, and hope in the God to whom we have entrusted our will and our life.

Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. (Proverbs 2:4 NLT)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, As I seek You with all my heart, help me to grow in grace and the knowledge of Your word so I can carry the message of Your great plan of redemption to others.  Amen
