In the Bible we read of many festivals the people celebrate because God intervened on their behalf. We also have festivals that we celebrate because God intervened on our behalf. At Christmas we celebrate Jesus coming to earth in human form so that He could legally pay the debt for mankind’s sin. At Easter we celebrate Jesus death in our place and His resurrection which assures us of reconciliation with God and life with Him forevermore.

Here is how God showed his love among us. He sent his one and only Son into the world. He sent him so we could receive life through him. Here is what love is. It is not that we loved God. It is that he loved us and sent his Son to give his life to pay for our sins. (1 John 4:9-10 NIRV)

When we gather in recovery meetings and receive tokens indicating our time in sobriety, we are also celebrating how God intervened on our behalf and brought us out of the darkness of our unmanageable lives. We were completely powerless to do anything to change ourselves.
When we were utterly helpless, with no way of escape, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners who had no use for him. (Romans 5:6 TLB)

But all who reject me and my message will be judged at the Day of Judgment by the truths I have spoken. (John 12:48 TLB)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Help me to understand Your Word and to celebrate all that You have done, and will continue to do for me, as I practice Your principles in all my affairs. Amen
