Becoming Complete One Step At A Time

 When we came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity, what were we expecting to happen? Did we think that overnight our minds and hearts would be transformed, and our selfish desires and ways of thinking would disappear? The truth is this will happen.  We just need to receive and believe what God says:  we are born again to a new life and, one step at a tie, we will establish our way of thinking and behaving in keeping with God's ways. 

 Giving our will and life over to the care of God means we let go of the ways of this world and take hold of God with both hands. When God says, “This is the way, walk in it”, we obey him.  We need to remember that we are powerless to do life on our own and have proved repeatedly that our ways do not work.  God’s instructions have proven true over time. Whether we fully understand them or not, we just need to follow them.  

 When we have given our will and life over to God, all His promises are ours to claim. One of those promises is, He makes us as his own and fills us with the Holy Spirit who then lives in us as a guarantee of what is to come. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth who guides and counsels us and gives us wisdom and practical knowledge about God’s ways.  

It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NLT)

Prayer:  Loving God, Thank You for the Holy Spirit who settles and guides me into all truth and for Your promises that are guaranteed because He lives in me.  Amen
