Recovery

When we give our life over to the care of God, we often think that things will go smoothly from that point onwards. When we have problems, we often think God has forgotten us and may be angry over something we have done. From the account of peoples’ lives in the Bible it appears God's way is to encourage each person to believe He has a plan for their life and trust Him to complete it. When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary the chosen mother of Jesus, he said to her:

“Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!" (Luke 1:28. NKJV)

We may think that favour with God means blissful happiness and blue skies all the way. The visitation of the angel Gabriel to favoured Mary did not make her life easier. In fact, it caused trouble for her. Nevertheless, it was the purpose and plan of God for Mary’s life. Can any of us imagine telling our fiancé or being told by our fiancé, “an angel told me I am favoured by God, and will conceive a child by the power of the Holy Spirit?”

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35 NKJV)

Mary truly was a virtuous woman and God used her for the purpose of bearing His son Jesus. However, it took a visit from an Angel to convince Joseph, Mary’s fiancé, that what had happened to her was accomplished by the power of God. When God speaks to us concerning our future, it often seems like “pie in the sky” because we feel unworthy of His plan for our life, or because we think that what God says is impossible. God does amazing things, and absolutely nothing is impossible with Him. Are we willing to trust and obey what He says to us?

I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free.” (Isaiah 44:22 NLT)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending Jesus into the world to save me and set me free. Help me to believe that what I think is impossible, is truly possible with You. Amen
