A popular song that's been sung in churches around the world the last few years includes the lines, "Way-Maker, Miracle-Worker, Promise-Keeper, Light-in-my-Darkness, My God, that is who You are." All of these are wonderful descriptions and titles for God, our Creator. Where do we get such names?
Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 NIV)
We need a God who can make a new way for us because we have not managed, on our own, to find a way that we want to continue to walk on, nor that anyone else would want either.

The Bible is full of eye-witness accounts of Jesus showing His power over sickness, death, nature, and evil spirits. In whatever way we need God's intervention today, He's able and willing to provide for our needs.
God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (Numbers 23:19 NLT)

No one has failed at keeping promises more than us and yet our God never makes a promise that He doesn't keep. God's Word, God's promises are the sure and steady anchor for us as we go forward in recovery. His Word is our light that leads to new life.
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12 NLT)
Prayer: Gracious God, Thank You for being our God and for being who You truly are. You are a way-maker, miracle-worker, promise-keeper, light-in-my-darkness, that is who You are. Help me to walk in the light of Your love today. Amen
