God’s Name Alpha And Omega

Many people like to read historical writings about people or events that happened in the past but how many books have we read which contain history plus predicted future events that did not happen for hundreds of years? The Bible is a book which contains the history of the nation of Israel and their covenant relationship with God plus foretold events that happened hundreds of years after the revelation of the writings. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, so it is not surprising that many prophesies in the Bible were about His life and death. 

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Revelation 22:13; Isaiah 53:5 NIV)

 Jesus knew the death He would suffer and yet He humbled Himself on our behalf and allowed Roman soldiers to nail His hands and feet to a cross. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the author and perfector of our faith. Do we think He might be trustworthy of our faith in Him to work all things together for our good? 

Looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith. He paid no attention to the shame of the cross. He suffered there because of the joy he was looking forward to. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2 NIRV) 

Many of us who have come out of an unmanageable lifestyle have turned our will and life over to God’s care. The Bible is God’s gift of a handbook to us which contains reliable instructions for guidance on our journey of life. Let’s believe the Scriptures and be assured that Jesus is the Alpha and Omega who knows the beginning and the end of our journey.

 Your word is like a lamp that shows me the way. It is like a light that guides me. (Psalm 119:105 NIRV)

 

Prayer: Gracious God, I pray to wholeheartedly believe and be guided by the Scriptures.  Please give me the will to follow Your principles in all my affairs. Amen
