The Gifted Life
Statistics tell us that many Christmas Eve shoppers are men doing panic buying for those they love. Thankfully, God is not a last-minute planner. From before the creation of the world God planned, through Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection, to give us the awesome gifts of forgiveness of sin and eternal life.
Christmas is a time to give thanks for the birth of Jesus. This Christmas we can bless others, not by spending lots of money on gifts, but by sharing ourselves with them. The extravagant love of Jesus flowing through us will help us love and serve our family and friends. Just being with family or friends will bring more joy to our lives than anything we could purchase at a store or online.
During this Christmas season, will we offer the gifts of thankfulness and worship to Jesus for all He has done for us? What other gifts have we received from God that we can share? Are we able to help others? Just spending time with someone can make a huge difference in their life. Listening attentively to another when they are struggling to cope and perhaps offering help may be significant to that person. In what small or large ways can we offer something to someone that says, “I care about you”.
I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. (John 15:11-12 NLT)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank you for the gift of forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus. Help me to give the gifts of love and caring to others as together we celebrate Christmas. Amen
