God’s Will Revealed

Tuesday December 12, 2023

Meditating on God’s word in the Bible and prayer to our Heavenly Father are positive daily habits that help us rebuild our lives.  In our daily devotions, we are not seeking to learn facts about God but rather to come to Him and get to know His character and His ways.  As our relationship with God develops we discover that we have a loving friend who knew us before we were born, knows all about us, and cares deeply for us.

There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.  (Proverbs 18:24 NLT)

God created us with a desire for intimate sharing, understanding, trusting, and being trusted.  God wants to fulfill these longings in us, first through relationship with Him and then through relationship with others.  God wants to share with us, heart to heart, about the things that matter to Him.

The LORD confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them.  (Psalm 25:14 NIV)

The prayer and meditation to which Step 11 invites us is more than just trying to figure out what God’s plans are for us.  Reading Scripture and meditating on it reveal to us the nature of God and all the promises He has made to us.  Underneath all these spiritual exercises is God's desire to affirm the unfailing love He has for each one of us.

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude 20-21 NIV)

Improving our conscious contact with God will strengthen our faith as we seek to do His will in all our ways.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your unfailing love for me.  I ask for strength to live as a person who honours You in all my ways.  Draw me near to You that I might gain knowledge of those things that are close to Your heart.  Amen
