Light In My Darkness, Peace For My Soul

This is the season of the year when we prepare our hearts for the annual celebration of Christ’s birth. For some of us Christmas may stir up grief over Christmases past. Dysfunctional family activities, addiction, poverty and loneliness are all part of the world we live in. God sees our despair and, in His wisdom, sent His son to be with us. Jesus is the promised Saviour for all who have walked in the darkness of addiction and sin.

Some of us may feel that no one understands or cares about us. The truth is, God both understands and cares. The birth of Jesus Christ loudly expresses God’s unfailing love and care for us. Because He took on human flesh Jesus can understand and sympathize with our weaknesses.

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. (Isaiah 42:16 NIV)
When we feel helpless and life seems unmanageable, it is time once again to turn our will and our life over to God’s care. If we do, God will make the rough places smooth.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for allowing me to cast all my anxiety on You and for caring for me when I need it most. Please give me the strength to persevere through any trials that come my way and acknowledge that You are in complete control. Amen
