Meditations on "Lies"

Tonight, many children put on costumes and go door-to-door “trick-or-treating.

Many of us lost our true identity because we grew up in dysfunctional families and were forced to assume survival roles.

A sincere person is one who is honest, who doesn’t create false impressions, and who doesn’t operate with selfish motives.

Addicts tell lies. We tell ourselves we need our substance of choice to deal with the day.

We are experts at rationalizing – attempting to excuse, minimize, or justify our bad behaviour.

We don’t need to be told that emotional trauma is painful.

Part of being human is experiencing some wounding.

The way to become mature in our recovery and in life in general is through prayer and meditation on what we read in the Bible.

Steadily moving forward in recovery is not easy. As we awaken out of the haze of years in addiction our minds are often filled with memories of things done to us and things we have done to others.

In the past, one of the lies we bought into was that the party life was where the greatest enjoyment of life was to be found.

The Bible makes it clear that God detests lying. In our addiction, most of the time, we did not speak the truth.

When we think of healing we often look to physical healings recorded in the Bible.
