Meditations on "Powerless"

It’s a new month and the warm and lazy days of summer are ending.

Canadian songwriter and worship leader Brian Doerksen recorded the song “Welcome To The Place of Level Ground“ with individuals who had spent time in correctional facilities or who were coming back from addictive and destructive lifestyles.

The familiar slogan “I can’t. God can. I think I’ll let Him” describes the first three steps of the Twelve Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous that we can apply to situations we encounter in our daily lives.

One of our first priorities in recovery is sorting our life practices according to the truth.

"Principles before personalities" is one of those sayings that we hear at every Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

If someone was to evaluate our daily communication with others, would they describe us as gentle or harsh?

Denial is described as a refusal to admit the truth or reality of a situation.

After years of uncertainty and upheaval at every turn, it's wonderful to recover a life that has some stability.

While we were in addiction our daily agenda was fully centered on meeting our own needs.

A person with a victim mentality has learned to focus on suffering while trying to avoid more at any cost.

As humans, we tend to base our security on the depth of our personal relationships with those around us.
