Meditations on "Powerless"

The Bible is a wonderful source of support for us and tells us of many situations where Jesus showed compassion to those He encountered.

When sharing our recovery journey at meetings we often reflect on what life was like in addiction, what happened, and what life looks like now.

In the Big Book of AA, we are advised to use discretion in knowing how much time and attention to give to any one person or situation.

It takes courage to live in recovery. Admitting that our lives were unmanageable and that we were powerless to sort ourselves out took real courage.

If we are determined to do our own thing, God will allow us to make bad choices.

"Live and let live" is one of those slogans that encourage us to consider if our desire for control is becoming an issue we need to deal with.

We lost our way. That is an obvious fact. We fell into addictive and destructive lifestyles.

One of the coping mechanisms many of us use when dealing with low self-esteem and the humiliation of our past failures is the mask of arrogance.

Life has its ups and downs and doesn’t always treat us fairly.

A lot of us express self-hatred as we look at our personal appearance and our life experiences.

In the Bible we read of all the good things that God will do for those who have given their will and life into His care.

While we were living in addiction our agenda each day was completely centered on meeting our daily needs.
