Meditations on "Recovery"

When Jesus was teaching His friends about prayer He said this: Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.

Living life with God in recovery is a learning process.

Yesterday, men and women who lost their lives in past wars were honoured with parades to the cenotaph in local communities.

Today we remember blood that was spilled on battlefields around the world by brave men and women who gave their lives for the cause of freedom and justice.

We are all looking for a peaceful life and God's word has a lot to say about how living well under authority with proper respect for leaders brings that to us.

Why do we look at another’s sin and want them punished for what they have done and then look at our own sin and want compassion and forgiveness?

There is a desire in each one of us to succeed, to win, to excel, yet often when we have been asked to do something, we allow thoughts of failure to overcome us before we even start.

Many people like to read historical writings about people or events that happened in the past but how many books have we read which contain history plus predicted future events that did not happen for hundreds of years?

To be flexible means that we are adaptable and willing to yield when circumstances require short or long-term change.

Some of the most welcome words in life and certainly in recovery circles are, "One day at a time" or "Just for today.

Often in recovery we are not sure where the future is going to take us, and it makes us fearful.

To be reconciled with someone who has wronged us is difficult.
