Meditations on "Surrender"

In recovery, and in life in general, situations often arise which cause us to believe that we are alone and have no one to turn to for help.

Step 3: We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

We’ve been reflecting on remembering this week. Today’s Psalm helps us to be encouraged and to remember that even though our sins are great, if we have repented and turned away from them, we can be confident that God remembers them no more.

Having admitted the exact nature of our wrongs and accepted complete forgiveness from God brings us to the place where we are free indeed.

“Continued to take a personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it” – these are wise words from the founders of AA that are meant to lead us daily to a place of peace.

As we turn our will and our lives over to the care of God we need to ask Him to teach us His ways.

Step 5 – admitting to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

Then the Lord gave me this message: “O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay?

When we surrender our will and our lives into God’s care, He establishes a living connection between us and Him.

There is a form of life in the shadows that is negative and promotes “shady living”.

To give our will and our lives over to the care of God requires that we develop a whole new way of thinking and believing.

God's trustworthy plan for us is to become whole in body, mind and spirit, regardless of how much pain and loneliness, anger and frustration, dissatisfaction and discouragement we have buried in our hearts.
