Meditations on "Victim"

We have all sorts of reasons why we think we can’t change.

Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.

In recovery, as well as in addiction, one can have a victim mentality.

It does not take much time in recovery for us to realize how much better life can be than we ever thought possible.

Is there really a God? Is there really a higher power to whom I can turn over my will and my life and receive in return a life worth living?

Unresolved grudges related to childhood offences against us usually show up in adulthood as deeply rooted bitterness.

Pride is a very destructive character defect. It is evident in our lives when we think negative, angry, and/or, victimized thoughts.

For many of us infidelity in a relationship harmed us.

We were created as wonderfully complex human beings.

People who suffer from a victim mentality often confuse love with pity or rescue.

At some point in our lives we became aware that we were powerless over our dependencies and that our lives had become unmanageable.

We feel hurt when another’s unkind words or actions cause our self-worth to be devalued.
