Hope For Today

Just for today I will seek to serve others with kindness, doing what is right, and walking humbly with God. In our  circle of family and friends there will be lots of happy people if we can live into this today.

What might God be able to accomplish with yours and my ordinary lives if we were to offer them to Him today and follow what He tells us to do?

We humans are quite small and fragile in the big scheme of things. We’re easily brought to a place of desperation. Thankfully God is there when we finally realize our need and makes all we need available to us.

God wants us to be responsible and generous with all He has given us – time, abilities, money, possessions. God wants us to ask for wisdom and seek His will in how we use the resources we have been given. He promises to bless us when we do.

Whether today is just another step in a long journey for you or maybe you are at a place where you only hoped you could be and God has brought you here, let’s take a moment and make a response of thanks and trust to God who is making a treasure for us of this day.

Today we consider the priority God gives us to give an account of ourselves to Him rather than spending time and attention passing judgment on others.

With all the challenges we face individually and collectively as communities and a society, we’re thinking today about what it means to be supportive  of one another. 

We live in a time when generations are exactly that - stubborn in their own definitions and views of things, rebellious against the principles and standards God says are what make for a successful life and society. At the core of it the problem is that our hearts are not set right and our spirits are not faithful to God.  How to live above this ourselves and be a good example to others?

We all have seasons where the routine of life seems to become dull and we feel less enthusiastic about what we are involved with than we previously did.  It is a fair question to ask why we are bored and impatient with where life is at today.  The real question is, what will we do about it?

What do we want to know? What do we actually need to know today in order to be successful and have a good day?

We’ve all had far too much experience of how life can be challenging at times.  Whether it is personal challenges, family dysfunction, difficulties at work, issues in the community, or world-wide problems, there are many things that can feel like a burden. How then can God promise us joy in the middle of it all? 

"Easy Does It" or “Take it Easy” are some well known and well used slogans that point us toward healthy responses to whatever is going on.  The thought behind these words is that we should slow down and relax and take a measured approach to a problem or to whatever seems complicated and frustrating to us.
